The average legacy we currently receive is €1,000 which goes to the development of the teams.

Running a 24 hour a day, 365 day a year emergency service is a costly business for our teams. For example, it costs a team:-

  • €400 to provide a team member with waterproof clothing
  • €500 to buy a VHF radio for a team member
  • €2,500 to buy a rescue stretcher
  • €60,000 to buy and fit out a new 4x4 or incident control vehicle
  • €250,000 to €500,000 to purchase a site for a rescue base and the same amount again to build a rescue base. Rescue bases are essential as they provide a place where vehicles and equipment can be cleaned, dried and repaired after an incident and most important - securely stored.
